The Jersey Devil Takes a Bite Out of the Big Apple…

With this being a holiday week, I opted not to feature a guest author this time. Just wanted something short and sweet to keep you guys on your toes, so I thought I’d share the big news! DEVIL’S CHILD, the third ENIGMA Directive adventure is FINALLY available in ebook format.
The last book in the series, SIRENS’ SONG was released way back in January 2011. It’s been almost two years since the last ENIGMA Directive book and I know many of you have been anxiously awaiting the release of this third book.
So, why the delay? Lots of reasons. Since Sirens’ Song, I’ve written two other novels (THE CURSE OF ONE-EYED JACK and THE DJINN). Also, I’m running a pretty successful small press publishing company with over 26 titles released within the three years of its existence. But mostly, because I wanted to get the story just right. I had to. It’s a little different than the first two which required a bit more finesse.
You see, DEVIL’S CHILD acts as a sort of transition piece for Jack’s story arc. It’s a little bit like Empire Strikes Back in that’s it’s a little darker than the others. It also ends with a major cliffhanger and two major events that will change Jack’s life forever. Because of that, it was essential that I had the story just perfect. I think I accomplished what I set out to do with it…while opening the series up full blast toward the high octane conclusion of the over all story arc (the NEPHILIM Project arc should be wrapped up two books from now, by the way).
Don’t worry. I’m not saying I’m hanging up Jack’s patented bowling shirt and Glock 17 any time soon. But people who’ve read the first two books should already be aware that there has been a very nasty little conspiracy transpiring right under Jack’s nose from book one. DEVIL’S CHILD is the beginning of Jack’s full out offensive against this conspiracy…which should be wrapped up two books from now.
So how long will that be? No telling. If you’ve been keeping up with this blog for any amount of time, you know that I have a slew of projects in the works. Two more DARK HOLLOW MYSTERIES that I should be writing back to back. A new thriller co-written with Kane Gilmour called INTERSTATE 0. And even an ENIGMA Directive graphic novel that will be following the same story arc and part of the over all series
Concept art for the graphic novel by Christian Guldager
.Point is, I have a lot to do between now and the next ENIGMA Directive novel. But I can tell you this…it won’t be another two years. 🙂 Promise you that.
In the meantime, I hope you pick up a copy of DEVIL’S CHILD today. The print edition should be available everyone on January 1, 2013. But for now, it’s just available in ebook.
Here is the official synopsis:
For more than three hundred years, a creature called the Jersey Devil has haunted the Pine Barrens of the Garden State. Once believed to be the offspring of their infernal namesake, the nine-foot tall gargoyle-like creatures are, in reality, a type of cryptid—mysterious animals whose existence has not yet been scientifically proven.

Now, someone has kidnapped a Devil cub, and unless the infant cryptid is reunited with its own kind, the Jersey Devils are going to take a great big bite out of the Big Apple.

Finding cryptids is Dr. Obadiah “Jack” Jackson’s business, so when the Jersey Devils start rampaging in Central Park, Jack is on the job. But what starts out as an ordinary monster hunt—ordinary for Jack at least—soon turns into a nightmare of political intrigue and violence. Hounded by local law enforcement, stalked by cult of crazed Devil worshippers, and terrorized by the increasingly desperate cryptids, Jack must unravel the mystery and find the Devil cub before all Hell breaks loose!

I hope you’ll continue to support me and my writing. You can do that in a number of ways. First, buying my books is a great start. But if you’ve already done that, then there is no better support for an indie author like me than by getting the “word of mouth” treatment. Tell all your friends about my books. Write reviews (I can’t stress how important those reviews are). Share links on Facebook and Twitter. Tell people to check out this blog. There’s just all kinds of ways you can help. But the greatest way that I can think of is to email me or comment on my blog posts just to let me know what you think of my books. There is no greater encouragement I can think of than to hear from you directly. So be sure to leave your comments here…or shoot me an email at
Anyway, I hope you had a fantastic Christmas. And I pray that as we approach the new year, that it will be your very best year to date in all you do. God bless you all!
